look at M$'s response to the NPD. That's about the quality you'd expect from a M$ press release. I have a near impossible time believing this article. He doesn't even hint at where the email came from, just says "got this from M$ PR".
The only reason I'd see it as plausible is if he has a friend that works for M$ and he sent him that as a joke.
The worst part is, if sony sent something like that out about the 360, the first 30 posts would say "Wow, M$ ...
He needs to change his expression in some of his pictures :(
I like how 50% of this community just got pwned.
It probably has something to do with the fact that 360 fanboys aren't blind followers of their system. They acknowledge mistakes M$ makes happily. I haven't met a single person who doesn't acknowledge the RROD problem as a mistake.
Compare that with the PS3, which fell on cries of "Six-Axis is fine. We don't need rumble, it's overrated anyway and distracts me when I put my controller on my coffee table" and "oh it's ok that PSN doesn't have half the features XBL ...
The programming wouldn't even be that hard at this point. Just art and game design pretty much.
It could be new cities depending on the detail and mission content. It's not impossible that they release a new city for the first, then slowly populate the city with interiors and missions as they release more and more DLC.
edit: though I would still take this generally as a grain of salt. Not because it's M$ sponsored. M$ knows better than to deal with the backlash of completely false advertising (there is a difference between stretching the truth and saying something comple...
Attatch rate isn't important to gamers, but it's incredibly important to developers and publishers. When you see a console with more total consoles and a higher attatch rate (360) than competitors, chances are more games are going to get released on it.
Sales doubled. How is that spinning? Here's some more spinning for you: the sky is blue.
source? till then it's hogwash.
PS3 being bought as a Blu-Ray player is a fact. It was/is one of the cheapest blu-ray players on the market. It's also upgradable through software updates and has more capabilities than the average blu-ray player. You're naive to believe otherwise.
Neither console is going to be a failure. Even despite the Wii selling so well, console sales are up all around. There's also the fact that the Wii is pulling in non-gamers, which I wouldn't consider a win for the 360/PS3 market. In fact, the wii probably increases sales for the 360/PS3 by pulling people that don't care about games into gaming.
The PS2 is under $100 dollars. It sells just because it's so cheap. I'd be more embarassed if I were sony and my new console was being repeatedly outsold by its predecessor.
Why would doubling sales be damage control? That's not an excuse for anything. It's a good thing regardless of how you spin it.
They fixed the problems that caused the vast majority of the RRODs. the X clamp, smaller chips, different disk drives, etc. There's supposed to be another upgrade coming soon.
I'm probably going to pick up an elite when they do that and use my current system as a development box for XNA.
They're already surpassing the original xbox, and every console lately has sold the bulk of its sales late in it's life.
When I run into a wall at 60mph nothing happens to my car either. It's so lifelike. I just had to point out the obvious flaw.
But what's the point of using a 5 point scale if you're going to take it to 2 decimal places? you might as well just make it out of 10 or 100 if ur going to do that.
What's next? 2.38529621/3?
Since when has sony's philosophy been to win in the long run? For the power of their machine to win in the long run maybe. The winning in the long run is just damage control for their system being behind.
"look bad in the eyes of who?"
I'd hope anyone with a PS3. Otherwise you guys are worse off than I thought. Do you think if bungie decided to make their own service to host halo 3 with a new gamertag it would have been a good thing for XBL? It's the same concept.
You people are all looking at the sign up as the bad thing, that's not it. It's the fact that you're going to have many people with potentially different tags making friends under those differ...
A 2 minute sign up is fine, it's the fact that it's not taking advantage of a system already in place that's supposed to be unified. Actually, it's not even just not taking advantage of it. It's completely overriding it and competing against it.
Your platform should have games that support it, not go against it.
Apparently you've forgotten the dreamcast?
